| GMP and partners visit shops in Bolton to tackle organised crime | ||

 On Thursday 28 October, officers in Bolton, alongside partners from Immigration Enforcement and Bolton Council Environmental teams, paid visits to Barbershops across the district as part of Operation Machinize. 
 Operation Machinize is the ongoing NCA-coordinated operation to tackle money laundering and criminal use of cash-intensive high street businesses. 
 Officers listened to the concerns of the public and acted on intelligence alongside partner agencies which included Immigration Enforcement officers and Environmental officers from Bolton Council. 
 The day highlighted several health and safety issues to be addressed at some of the local businesses. 
 This was a continuation of work carried out last week, where officers visited several minimarts and convenience shops with partner agencies, such as Trading Standards and detection dogs, where an estimated £17,000 worth of illegal tobacco products and counterfeit goods were seized. 
 These included: Suspected counterfeit/non-duty paid/not for the legal market cigarettes – 13,272 sticks Suspected counterfeit hand rolling tobacco – 7.6 kgs Suspected counterfeit vodka – 6 Litres Non-compliant vape liquids – 514 Non-compliant devices – 271 Suspected counterfeit earphones – 14 Non-complaint single use vapes – 23 Smartphone backplates – 6
